Star Date 7 days and counting!

Do you see how delirious this is making me. I'm getting all treky on you.
I'm at my MIL's again and this time I brought a gallon of ice water with me cause I'm going to be here awhile.
I am going to pre write tomorrows post so that I can join in the "What I Learned This Week" carnival. You'll want to come back tomorrow for that.
I'm going to have to have someone link me up to her post though as I may not get to a computer tomorrow. Who knows? I think we are going over to Dr. Mike's tonight and maybe if we look pathetically at our computer it will speed up the process.
I tell you man my brain and thoughts go to mush when I'm in this heat so tomorrows post may or may not make a lot of sense. I guess you'll just have to come back to find out.
So how is everyone? Is the blog world still spinning without me? Anything exciting happening? Any giveaways I need to be involved in?
Okay I'm going to go write tomorrows post and see what happens! LOL

Not So Friday Funnies!

Are you all missing Friday Funnies? Me too! Without a computer of ones own it's hard to plan and link up and do all that fun stuff. I should have planned ahead and had someone co-host for me like someone suggested. Hind sight is 20/20 huh? BUT it will be back next week. Oh yes, it will be back!
I'm making a repeat performance at my MIL's. I tried to use my 86 year old Japanese neighbor's computer, but wouldn't you know it, hers is out too.
To make it more interesting I thought about going to a coffee shop that had WiFi and just asking some random person if they would let me use their laptop to do my blog post. That sounded like fun but time is not on my side. So I had to resort to driving a block away to my MIL's, who is gracious enough to let me use hers.
(If you have no idea why I'm writing this you need to read the last 3 or 4 posts of mine to catch up. It really is a sad sad story so have kleenex handy.)
Did I mention it's like 92 (heat index of 102) and my MIL has no air. Sweat is like starting to drip in places where I would rather it didn't. It really kind of puts a damper on the creative, funny juices! In fact it brings it to a complete halt and all I can think about is how nice it would feel to be sitting on a block of ice right now.
Well I just wanted to stop by to say Hi! See actually you haven't "missed" me much, except the posts I would have written if this all hadn't have happened. But then I wouldn't have gotten to see how much you all love me! LOL
Well I'm going to go dunk my head in a pool of ice water and head out!
Love you my friends.
Oh, did I mention that Dr. Mike and Kathy are going on a marriage retreat this weekend and therefor our computer will be sitting all alone, not getting fixed for 3 more days? *sigh*

So?

Alright I admit it! It's just hard for me NOT to blog. Even though these blogs are coming from everywhere BUT my home, I still HAVE to do it.
I'm at the Library this time. My excuse? I HAD to pick up a book that my daughter had on hold. I can't help it if they have a bunch of computers sitting there calling my name as if they were giant computer shaped pieces of chocolate. What? I'm going to see how many different places I can blog from before we get our computer back! Any takers? LOL! This is place #3. It's a challenge. Yeah, that's it! A challenge! And as most of you know, I'm always up for a good challenge.
I know that some of you probably figure I'm getting tons more done, but in reality I'm not. See I blog VERY VERY early in the morning when it's hard to do anything else and then after the kids get up I'm not really on it that much. At least not enough to miss.
It's the morning times that have been driving me nuts. So what HAVE I been doing in the mornings? Well aside from bible time, I've actually started planning our annual Christmas party, Thanksgiving dinner, A woman's Tea, and my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party.
I'm brain dumbing all over the place. I have notes here and there and books laying everywhere with those little sticky tabs sticking all out of them.
But I miss you all and reading your blogs which is what I don't have time to do when I'm using someone else's computer.
Weeeellllll, I guess I better get off here before I forget why I'm here and walk out the door empty handed.
Love you my sweet friends!

UGH!

Well me and the family stopped by my friend Kathy's house to drop off our dinosaur computer to her husband, who we lovingly call Dr. Mike. Becausseeee our NEW computer is being shipped out and won't be back for 2-3 WEEKS!!! Have mercy! I'll have some good posts to share about this experience I'm sure.
I didn't know what to do this morning as I was drinking my coffee! Can you picture it? Me staring at a black screen holding my coffee mug? Yeah it was really pathetic.
I called Kathy and asked her how she was doing with the world stopping and all. Cause you know in MY world nothing is happening and going on without me. Right? Right? I'm going to miss reading your blogs and keeping up with you all. You'll have to just keep me posted on the important stuff in the comments.
I will try to get to a computer as often as I can. Either Dr. Mike will have our old one up and running soon or the ladies at the library are going to know me on a first name basis. But the only thing wrong with that is the posts I want to type include pictures! *sigh*
So I'll leave you with my favorite quote from one of my favorite movies. And I quote, "In my world everyone's a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!"
Chew on that for awhile and I'll see you when I see you!!!
Love,
The most dedicated blogger on the universe!
Why I think you can't go on without me I'll never know! LOL

Sometimes your the windshield sometimes your the bug!

Unfortunately today I am the bug.
Yup! I am splattered all over that windshield. LOL
I know you want to know what happened and I'm gonna tell ya.
Last night we had one of the worst storms we've had in a long time in regards to lightening. It was hitting very close and it was very loud. And of course on this particular night my husband was at work. So around 10 o'clock last night I'm wondering who's bed I could crawl into! LOL. I expected 3 kids in bed with me by the end of it but yet there I lay all alone. And then it happened. The loudest lightening strike of the night. And you know when you hear the static in the air that it's not good. We never lost power but about 10 seconds after that strike my computer came on by itself (Yeah I know! Stupid me didn't unplug it!) and I knew that wasn't good. To make a long story shorter, it fried something in our BRAND NEW computer and now I cannot connect to the internet. So now I am at my MIL's (who doesn't believe in air conditioning) typing this because I knew you would want to know! LOL
See how considerate I am?
What does this mean? Well I may be out of commission for a little while. Not sure how long. If you don't hear from me you know we haven't gotten it fixed yet.
Anyone got a good windshield cleaner? Oy!
And I had a some good stuff this week too! LOL!
Love you my friends!

Thrift Store Love!

I have to admit that I love to go to thrift stores. If you can get past the funky smell as soon as you walk in the door, it's all good.
I also believe that there are "levels" of thrift stores too. For instance I went into one the other day and I was looking for pants for my 4 year old boy. I came across 2 pairs of pants on hangers, with holes in them. And they wanted $3.00 for them. I'm like HELLO, I'm here because my boys pants ALREADY have holes in them. Needless to say I moved onto another thrift store. It's actually my favorite thrift store. It's the Salvation Army thrift store. (Let's see how many times I can say thrift store in this post! Oy!) The smell as you walk in the door would make a skunk feel all warm and cozy but after about 10 minutes you are either used to it or your nose hairs have all burned. Either way you learn to deal with it.
I hardly ever come out of "this" thrift store without a good deal and I just thought I would share it with you today.

My husband needed a couple of work shirts so I managed to find these two shirts. They were like brand new.
Then I found a gold nugget in the midst of all the "treasure". I got this shirt for $2.50. I think it's beautiful. It ties in the back. I came home and hand washed it and it's in perfect condition. Not a thing wrong with it. I'm now on the hunt for some brown capris!
These next "treasures" have a little story and you'll want to hear it. First off I just "had" to have 2 more Christmas mugs, because the 30 others I have just aren't enough. Seriously I have a problem. What do I think is going to happen? That all my blogging friends are going to show up at my door, at the exact same time, demanding coffee and hot cocoa? Geesh! In my own defense though, I do use them for my Christmas party because they are all different so all everyone has to do is just remember what picture is on their cup! See! I'm okay!
Now as for the uh, pitcher in the middle there well, I admit Kathy saw it first and picked it up. But as we were both looking at it, neither one of us could picture that on our table ready to serve egg nog or something of the like, because, well, it's not the prettiest thing in the world. So she put it back. But as I stood there for about 2 seconds I thought, "Huh, that would look pretty cool with poinsettia's coming out of it as a center piece." And as I grabbed for it she got this look like, "Oh no you don't," and grabbed for it too. See she thought that that was a good idea too. So in the thrift store we are, in completely fun and jest of course, yelling at each other and pretending to pull each others hair over this cute, yet ugly, little pitcher! Do you get the visual? Yeah, it got ugly! LOL! Do you want to see the pitcher in question? Well here it is!

Moral of this story? Don't knock the thrift stores and if you are afraid to go, take a friend, it makes it a whole lot more fun! And try to go at least twice a month so you get in on the new stuff!
Oh and you want my total for all this fun? 8 bucks! Yup! $8.00!!! Sweet huh?

Okay I'm done. Thanks for sticking it out with me.
Love you my friends!

Friday Funnies

Welcome to Friday Funnies. If this is your first time here have a seat, grab your cup of coffee and prepare to laugh a little. If you've been here before then you know what you're in for and welcome back!

Okay, this week has gone by way to quick. And are we really already half way through August? Yikes! Slow down already. Well I hope you slow down long enough to enjoy some giggles or share your own. Just go post something silly and come back and link it up!

I have a joke to share today and yes, I'm sorry, it's a blonde joke! But I know all you blondes (natural or dyed) will love it! Enjoy!

The Office Worker
One day a blonde office worker comes out to the warehouse to walk around. As she is walking she looks up and sees a co-worker hanging upside down from an I-Beam in the ceiling.

She asks "What ARE you doing"?

The co-worker says "I need a few days off but the boss won't let me have them so I'm hanging upside down from this I-Beam acting crazy.

The boss will see me, think I need rest and send me home for a few days".

The blonde says "That won't work...uh ohh...here comes the boss now, you're in for it".

The boss spots the blonde looking up and sees the man hanging up there and asks him "Just WHAT do you think you are DOING?!!"

The man says (in a "crazy" voice) I'm a light bulb...I'm a light bulb"

The boss says "Buddy, you need some rest..take the rest of today and tomorrow off and get some sleep".

As he is climbing down he winks at the blonde showing her it worked.

The blonde thinks about this for a moment and starts to follow the man out the door.

The boss asks her "WHERE do you think YOU'RE going?"

The blonde says "I can't work in the dark".

Who says blonde's aren't smart?!

Happy Friday my friends!!!

Thankful Thursdays

It's been awhile since I've participated in Thankful Thursday. Not that I haven't had anything to be thankful for but I guess I just didn't think to post about it. But lately I've been so thankful that I was introduced to Christ and that He is my Saviour, that I had to post about it today.

I recently found this video again. And if I had to introduce Christ to you today I don't think I could do it any better! It gives me goose bumps.
I don't know much about Steve Harvey but I do know he has a way of introducing the Lord as if He were going to make a sudden stage appearance. But that's the thing, you never know when He's coming back. Are you ready?

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Love you my sweet friends!

Works For Me Wednesday- Cleaning Stained Tea Cups

I have a nice little tip to share with you all today.
Most of you know (well those of you who read my blog) that I recently started collecting tea cups. Up until now the ones that I have gotten have been in excellent condition. But recently I received 2 tea cups and saucers that came from an estate sale in which it looked like the lady must have smoked. Why? Well because the whole top of the saucer was yellow and the cup was yellow on the inside and in spots on the outside. They looked really dingy but I knew there was beauty underneath.
What did I use to clean it?
Baking soda, a little water and my fingers.
I just mixed it up to a thick paste and rubbed it all over the cup and saucer until the yellow was gone.

Here are some before and after pictures.
In the picture below I had already cleaned the saucer but you can see in comparison with the cup (that I didn't do) how clean and white it came after I cleaned it.

And the after. See the difference in the cup? It came so clean.
Here's the front of the cup! I believe it's hand painted and it's numbered so maybe it's worth something. ~LOL~ Not that it matters. I'm just going to have tea parties with it! But maybe the tea will taste better if it's worth more money! Hey it's a theory.
I did another tea cup as well but the pictures didn't come out as well so I won't bother showing you. But it came out just as pretty and white as this one. I'm so happy that the baking soda trick worked.
In other words, don't judge a book by it's cover because something beautiful may lie beneath!

Well that is what's working for me this week. What's working for you?
Head on over to We are that Family to see what's working for everybody else!

HUGS!

More Learnin'

I gave you all a break last week but I'm back to share the wee little lessons I've learned since then. I know you want to know and that you care! Right? Right?
So let's see.
This week I learned that....

1. ....when you add butter to hot oil in a sauce pan you shouldn't bang your spoon against the edge, therefor sending the butter plummeting into the hot oil and causing little droplets of oil to shoot out and land on your feet causing you to do a little dance in front of the stove! STUPID!

2. ...having a yeast infection, not getting enough sleep, starting your monthly cycle, having a sore varicose vein on one leg and a sore knee on the other will not stop me from going to spin class! LOL! I know I know, way too much information! But are you laughing at me? Cause all I could do is laugh at me! BUT I did feel better afterwards.

3. ....you can never EVER have too much creamer in your fridge!

4. ....I'm addicted to hand sanitizer wipes and counting on Publix (our local grocery store) to ALWAYS have them handy to wipe off the cart handle and when for some reason they are empty, I go into a little panic about all the germs that are lurking on the handle and refuse to touch any part of my body for the remainder of the shopping trip. Which in turn makes me very aware of how unusually itchy my eyes and nose are, at that very moment! Oh yeah, it's fun to watch.

5. ... the shortest line at Wal-mart is not always the quickest. *sigh* Get to know your cashiers REALLY well! I will purposely avoid certain ones.

Well that's it for now.I will leave you with those thought provoking lessons and the longing for more. Just tune in next week and I'm sure I'll have some to share.
If you have some lessons you want to share just head on over to Musings of a Housewife and link up!

Make Do Mondays!

I found this Meme. I'm not sure how I found it but I found it.
It was right up my alley. It's all about using, reusing, using up, making do or doing without.
So I thought this week I would participate. Lucky you eh?

Today you are going to marvel at the ingenuity of my thinking. Your jaw will drop, your eyes brighten, your mind wander to what could have been. Okay maybe not that, but you will be amazed. ESPECIALLY if you crochet or knit. I don't knit. I just can't get my brain and my hands to join forces and fit that into my things to learn. Trust me I've tried to convince them that it's something I want to do but they refuse to listen, so instead I crochet. Now that I could do with my eyes shut. And I don't know about you but many a times I have had a hard time finding that end in the middle and end up unwrapping the outside of the yarn and it's such a pain to unravel it and your skein of yarn go flying across the room.
Well friends, today I have solved my problem and your problem if you indeed have this same problem. I wonder how many times I could possibly say problem in one sentence?

Now I'm pretty sure they make something for this but I thought this up all by my lonesome.
See, I buy bulk brown rice at Sam's and they come in really big plastic containers. When I emptied one the other day I thought, "Hmmm, if I could get my husband to drill a hole in the lid I could keep my yarn from flying all over the place when I unravel the it." And you wanna know something? IT WORKED! Oh yeah! Trash to Treasure baby!

Here's living proof!
Just an ordinary rice container?
Oh I think not!
Just drill yourself a hole in the lid and you got yourself a handy dandy yarn holder!
Any large plastic container will work at long as it has a screw on lid. Sam's size pretzel container will work as well.
If you have any bright ideas on using, reusing, making do or doing without go link up HERE.

LOVE YOU MY FRIENDS!

Friday Funnies

Bring on the funnies! Bring on the funnies! Say it with me. Bring on the funnies! Are you ready? I know I am.
Did you know that Friday Funnies is coming up on it's one year anniversary. It started out slow but has slowly gained ground. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.
With that said, go post your funny and come back and link it up to share!

There really isn't a day that goes by that I don't need want chocolate.
And not like I need them but here are some VERY good reasons to eat chocolate every day!

1. Chocolate contains phenylethylamine a chemical that the brain releases when we fall in love. (Uh, huh. I know that's right!)

2.
Serotonin is released when chocolate is eaten, and communicates a feeling of calm while stabilizing your moods. (Our husbands should BRING us chocolate!)

3. Endorphins, also released when chocolate is eaten, send high levels of energy to the brain and give you a sense of euphoria. (Nothing like feeling good and having the energy to do housework right? Right?)

4. Chocolate contains anandamide, which helps open the synapses in the brain that allow feelings of happiness to transmit easily. Anandamide is the same brain receptor that responds to THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. However, it would take 25 pounds of chocolate in one sitting to feel the same high because anandamide is broken down quickly and easily. It is suspected that it does preserve a feeling of well-being. (25lbs. uh? Well, if I must, to achieve desired results then I gotta do what I gotta do!)

But wait! There's more!
I stumbled across this website called Chocolate Funny Farm Store and it sells chocolate themed t-shirts. They are too funny. I want the one that says,
" Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. Please have chocolate at the Gate!" LOL

Last but not least, I'll leave you with this picture. It was funny to me because I have been known to stash chocolate in my desk. I just pray to God that I don't look like this when I go looking for it!
I wonder how many of my posts have contained the word chocolate? LOL

Okay I'm done!
Happy Friday my sweet friends!

What if Jesus had a blog!

I was pondering this yesterday morning. I don't know if it's for someone that needs encouragement or not but I interrupt this normally senseless, quirky blog to bring you what's on my heart today.

Well first off, If Jesus had a blog His follower list would make mine look like what a grain of sand looks like on the beach. He wouldn't need spell check or a thesaurus to make Him look smarter. He would simply be who He is, Jesus. We'd love Him for that reason. He would write from His heart. He wouldn't worry about what people think.
Would it make you laugh? Cry? Think? Would you visit it everyday?
Well in a way, Jesus DOES have a blog. In fact He has several. It's us. We Christians who glorify Him in some way on OUR blogs. The church is a body. Some of us are the legs, some the arms, some the feet, etc. Just like some blogs make you think, some laugh, and some cry.
We all blog for different reasons. God made us all different, with different personalities, likes and dislikes.
I know for a fact that the Lord turned my blog into something that I hadn't intended it to be but from what I can see by your comments, it's blessing you.
Don't compare your blog to my blog. We are all going to attract different people for different reasons.
The point is we ALL bring something to this virtual table we call blogland. Don't get discouraged because you only have 3 followers and give up. You are important to those 3 followers and you may be used to encourage them in some way. Who knows? Don't let it be about numbers. If He has called you to blog then just blog from YOUR heart and it'll reach who it needs to reach. Just leave that part up to Him!

I love you my bloggy buddies!!

Oh, I just couldn't resist!

I mean who could? Just aisles and aisles of school supplies. Did we need them? No! And?
I admit it, I have a thing for pencils and papers and notepads and sticky notes and envelopes and packages of pens and loose leaf paper and paper clips and highlighters. It's so bad that at Christmas time my husband stuffs my stocking with office supplies. Yup! You heard me, office supplies. I love em'.

I picked up a few more but this is all I'm admitting to. But if you could only see the inside of my desk drawers.......Have mercy! LOL!
Have you seen the Triangular Crayons? They are the bomb! Highly recommend. They don't roll off the table and I think they are easier to hold.
I have no idea why I got the 5 subject notebook. I just think I had fond memories as a teenager buying and using it for school. I think it makes me feel a little smarter and more organized. I probably won't ever use it! Ha! Ha!

Does anyone else have this fetish? Anyone? I get a little more every time I'm in Wal-Mart. You'd think it was chocolate or something.
Just stop me before I buy a Hannah Montana folder, will you please?

Once again I confess to you, my blogging buddies. Make sure you hold me accountable for my school supply purchases.
You do come here to laugh! Don't you? LOL!!
This is my life and this is what I do. Thanks for coming along for the journey!!!

That's Okay, I'll Bring It To You!

Saturday we went to the beach with our friends Jason and Josh. My friend Debra couldn't play with us as she was tending to her Dad. So while everyone was doing their thing, I got a little bored.
As I was sitting there on my beach towel I thought how nice it would be to have a girlfriend there to talk to. Then it dawned on me. I'll just bring the beach to you. My peeps! And all of a sudden I didn't feel so lonely. Thus this post was born. LOL.
So for those of you who couldn't make it to the beach this summer, this post is for you!
I got busted at the end though. My husband could tell from 40 feet away that I was talking to myself. So I started to get a little self conscious! But before you feast your eyes on my windblown hair and cool shades, here are some pics!

First off, this was the view from where I was laying. It was just a beautiful blue sky with puffy little clouds.I had to sit up once in awhile to check to make sure everyone didn't leave me. So this was my view from there! LOL

This was pretty neat. Some guy parachuting with a lawn mower motor attached to his back. Okay I'm pretty sure that wasn't exactly how it was maneuvered but it was pretty cool. Something you don't see every day!

Without further ado!
Welcome to the beach! You can almost smell the ocean!

Let me know when you want to come visit!!!

56 Years!

Yup! That's how long my parents have been married. Can you believe that? I think it is so cool and I brag about them all the time. Not to many people can say that they have been married that long these days.
My parents are the best.
I remember my Dad working hard so Mom could be home with us kids. Sometimes taking on two jobs. I only remember a short time when my Mom HAD to work.
I never heard my Dad raise his voice to my Mom. (Not saying he never did. But I don't remember it so even if he did he couldn't have done it much.)
I can tell my Dad truly loves my Mom and would do anything for her.

My Mom always seemed to be there when I needed her. She instilled in me a need to cook healthier, even if it meant eating ice cream made with honey. Ugh! Though she did get a little crazy when they came out with the microwave. All I remember was rubbery eggs! LOL!
She loves music and can play just about any instrument you put in her hand.

Together they have shown their family and friends what love is all about. It's sticking together through hard times, it's loving each other no matter what comes your way, it's putting God first in your marriage and knowing He is in control.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!
I love you both so much!

Friday Funnies

Are you ready for the weekend? Tired after a long week? Well have I got the remedy for you. It's time for Friday Funnies. This is where you get to either sit back and browse all the funnies and laugh till your side hurts or go make a funny of your own, post it and link it up below. Or do both! There is never enough funnies in my book!

For today's funny I had to look no further then my own family.

As I was saying good night to my 7 year old son the other night, I had to stop him and ask him if I could film him "saying" goodnight. (I wish I could have gotten his legs in the picture as it's hysterical what he's doing with his legs!)
Oh it all starts our pretty normal. He comes over, we hug, I give him a kiss and tell him I love him and he tells me he loves me and then it turns into THIS!

This is not an isolated incident. No, he does this little ritual EVERY night. I'm not sure when it started but it has gone on for a very long time. It varies a little bit from night to night but it never ceases to make me laugh!
I just don't know where he gets it from!

Happy Friday my sweet friends!!

Because I know you care!

About what, you might ask?

Well, uh.............this!

I had to take a picture of this because it cracked me up! Yes this is actually in my fridge.

WHAT?
I don't have a problem! I mean, I'm...uh...I'm good! I'm fine.
Alright, I admit it's a little odd!

Come on you coffee drinkers, back me up here. You can't tell me you don't ever have 4 half and half or creamers in your fridge at any given time! Three? Two? Oh come on!
FINE! Let me explain. See I shop at Sam's Club once a month and they have a GREAT deal on Half and Half with no hormones and all that garbage. Soooooo... I stock up on it to last us a MONTH! See it's smart spending! I've learned the hard way that running out of creamer is no fun and coffee with plain milk is gross! Not gonna happen again. Uh uh! No way!

Phew!
This post just about did me in! Do you feel all mushy inside from reading it? LOL
It's funny because I get more comments about my funny senseless stuff then I do anything else so in a way you asked for it! LOL!!!
AND you got the added bonus of knowing where to buy really good half and half for cheapness!!!

Taco Stuffed Shells

I made these for supper last night and I got 5 thumbs up and since there are only 5 of us, I'd say that was pretty good.

I admit there just wasn't getting a good picture as it is kind of an ugly dish! LOL

Ingredients:
1 1/4lbs of ground beef or turkey
4oz of cream cheese
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 box jumbo shells
2 TBS butter, melted
2 cup shredded cheese (Use Mexican cheese blend if you got it!)
1 1/2 c. crushed tortilla chips
sour cream
Sauce: I mixed 1 can of tomato sauce and about 1 cup of salsa together and it was really good

Directions:

1. In a large skillet, brown meat until no longer pink, drain. Add cream cheese, salt, and chili powder. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.

2. Meanwhile cook your shells until al dente. Toss cooked shells with butter.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

4. Fill shells with beef mixture and arrange in a 9 x 13 pan. You may need another small one to fit them all in. Pour sauce over shells. Cover with foil and bake for 15 mins.

5. Remove dish from oven and top with cheese and tortilla chips, return dish to oven to cook for 15 more minutes.

6. Top with sour cream and onions. Serve!

Enjoy!

Works For Me Wednesday! - Back to School Edition!

There is a themed edition this week and I thought I would participate in it since it's all about back to school planning.

MY plan was to homeschool all year this year and take off weeks here and there. Well as I quickly saw that plan make it's way out the virtual window I just took a deep breath and said, WHATEVER! And am now starting anew. It's looking more like we will start around the same time public school starts.
Speaking of public school, as I was in Wal-Mart yesterday I heard moans and groans from what I'm going to assume are Mom's. I look and they are wondering aimlessly through the school supply aisle with a list a mile long in their hand. Is it really that bad? Yikes!
Our lists consists of 3 ring binders, lined paper, crayons (just because they were 25c a box and I couldn't resist me a new box of crayons!), page protectors and the SAME glue from last year, the SAME pencils from last year, the SAME ruler from last year, etc. Do you buy new at the beginning of every school year if you already have some left from last year? Just wondering.

So that part of my school planning is done.
This year I chose to use Far Above Rubies (that I snagged when it was on sale) for my daughter's curriculum. She's entering the 10th grade. It's all inclusive (except math) and based on Proverbs 31. For math we will be using Abeka Consumer Math.

My 7 year old son is continuing his phonics and starting to read quite well.
He excels in math so we try to keep him challenged there. I think we are leaning toward Math U See with him in the near future. Each day he does copy work, keeps a weather journal, studies nature, does artwork and this year I am going to start reading some old literature to him.

My 4 year old is learning to write the alphabet and his name. He doesn't speak very clearly right now but is greatly improving. So we will keep on that track with that and see how he progresses. Math with M & M's sound like fun! LOL!

Don't let this post fool you! I do not always have it together. In fact I struggle daily with it all. But I've learned to just relax, keep in prayer and make sure I have my coffee every morning before they wake up!
So what do you do to plan for your school year?
Check out We are That Family to see others!!

HUGS!!

My Patience has paid off! Woo! Hoo!

This worked out perfectly for what I learned this week. It's called being in the right place at the right time! I'm usually a day late and $447.00 short.

But this week I learned that....

1. ....if you pray for something and diligently wait for months and months and months, and refuse to pay full price for ANYTHING, and quit thinking about how you missed the great deal LAST year, you might get your flip flops blessed right off your feet!
Yup! That's what happened. I was at Wal-Mart getting a few things when I felt the need to check the wicker set ONCE AGAIN! I check this bad boy about every other time I go to Wally World to see if they have marked it down. It started at $447.00. (Ain't gonna happen!) Then it went down to $400.00. Still to rich for my blood. But Saturday Aug. 1 2009 I checked the set once again and it was marked down to $247.00 just that morning! And if you think that is still to much, try finding it cheaper ANYWHERE! Because I have trust me. I searched garage sales, craigslist, estate sales. You name it I searched it, but no one wants to give up their beautiful patio furniture and I knew that this was not going to get any cheaper. In fact I'd be surprised if they had any sets left at Wal-Mart right now. So I quickly grabbed the nearest garden employee and probably gave him way to much information on why this was to be mine! (There's a whole nother story to the purchase of this set but I'm sure you're sick of my post by now any way! LOL) I just used the word "nother" and drove the spell check crazy!
Sooooo........
you wanna to see it? I'm sure you do!!!

Please disregard the empty planter with the tag still on it! I'm working on that! LOL
Won't you join me for a cold glass of ice tea? You know I'd love to have you!
I am just loving it!!
Um, I learned other stuff but this is already to long so you'll have to wait till next week!
But if you have something to share be sure to link up to Musings of a Housewife for all to see!!!
LOVE YOU MY SWEET FRIENDS!

Inexpensive Wall Decor'

Why is it that the parents room is always the last room to be finished? Every room in the house has been done at least once and some rooms twice. Ours is yet to be finished. BUT it is now on it's way. I'm going to give you a little sneak peak.
Well first off we painted it. It WAS a light teal greenish color before and when we first moved in 11 years ago, I had a temporary interior design meltdown and put a seashell stencil around the whole top of the room. It was pretty ugly but we lived with it for 10 1/2 years. *sigh*
Buuuut... after 10 years I've finally regained my composure and I'm a woman on a mission. My husband has pretty much given me free reign. (Thanks Honey!) I do run things by him just to make sure he likes things but he's pretty much letting me run with it.
To start things off my dear sweet blogging friend Lisa sent me this little extra gem with a giveaway that I had won. (She blesses me so much!)
She knows that I love to laugh and this just kind of threw an idea in my head of what to do for my side of the bed. So I went to Bealls Outlet and found these two wall hangings to go along with the "laugh" theme. Here they are grouped together on the wall. It's so me. Oh and if you are under 49 years of age you get a 15% discount on Friday. So I got these two other pictures for like $5.00. Not bad. Thank you Lisa for that bit of inspiration.

I can't say that we really have a "theme" going on in our room. I think I'll call it Shabby Beachy Cottagey Chic'! LOL! All I know is that we wanted our room to be fun, bright and happy. We did a little trash to treasure by using a window out of my Grandmother's old house in Maine. We happen to be up there around the time a nice man was remodeling it and he gave us like 5 different windows. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and found this fun flip flop print. I used my 40% coupon and got it for $6.40. And of course the window was FREE! Above the picture is one of those cling on easy decor writings. I also got that at JoAnn Fabrics and used a 40% off coupon and so I got it for $8.35. It says" A good laugh is Sunshine in a House." It was so quick and easy to put up. I really really like it. We kept the window kind of shabby chic' because it just adds character. This is over our bed.

On my husbands side of the bed I kept it more on the inspirational side as he loves the word of God. So I thought these were perfect. I found them at Wal-Mart. I think they were $4.00 a piece. But they were perfect for his side. There is actually scripture on it too but it's hard to see it in the picture. Our bed is next. It's slowly coming together but you'll have to wait to see pictures as I'm trying to put the finishing touches on it!
So don't forget if your 49 and under Friday's at Beall's Outlet you get your 15% off everything. I think 50 and older it's on Monday. If you have a JoAnn Fabrics near you be sure to sign up for their flyers. They have valuable coupons and their sales listed in there. It's not just fabric, they have everything. So be sure to always look in to your favorite store policies. So many of them either send out coupons or give you certain days with discounts. It's well worth checking into to save some money. Oh and don't forget your local thrift stores and garage sales!
Tomorrow I'm going to show you what being in the right place at the right time got me! Woo! Hoo!
HUGS TO YOU ALL!
