Is it just me?

When someone compliments you on anything, say your shoes or shirt, do you kindly say thank you and change the subject? If you do, tell me how you do it. I ALWAYS feel the need to tell that person where I found my item and how much it cost! Usually because I've gotten a really good deal and I HAVE to tell that person all about it. They didn't ask for this information but I still feel the need to rattle on about how much money I saved and how I bought another pair in a different color and how I saw the same thing for twice as much somewhere else and it just goes on and on.
Please tell me I'm not alone here. Do you want to know what stemmed this post? Read on! I was at the eye doctor yesterday. First off let me tell you that before I left for the eye doctor I literally stood in front of my mirror thinking, "Okay, what do I have to do?" Because you know when you go to the dentist you brush your teeth first, when you go to the GYN you bathe first. See what I mean? Well what do you do when you go to the eye doctor? I was at a loss. I mean it really bothered me because I really felt there had to be something I could do. So I figured I'd bathe AND brush my teeth to cover all areas and went on my way. Wow, that was a huge rabbit trail wasn't it? Let me know if you catch the rabbit. Now back to the original program. So I was talking to one of the ladies at the desk and she commented on my flip flops. That's when I went into the whole, name, rank and serial number! LOL. I mean come on! Just simply say "Thank You" and be done with it! Nope not going to happen. I do this all the time. The price, the store, the colors all come out of my mouth before I even know it. My subconscious takes over and I am at its mercy.
Just tell me that you do it too and I'll feel a lot better!

Oh and by the way. I'm guest posting for Lisa's Tea for Two-sday over at Stop and Smell the Chocolates if you want to hop on over there and check it out!

BIG Hugs to you my friends.

Plugged Back In!

As most of you know by now, I joined in Kimba's Unplugged last Friday. Now we are to tell about the productive things we did in place of going on the computer that day.
Well I'll tell you the hardest part was the time that I am actually on the computer which is before the kids get up. Usually after my husband leaves for work is when I blog. Well picture me with my coffee in one hand and no where to go. I can't be loud as the kids are still sleeping so I was at a lost as to how productive I could actually be. I wondered around the house for a little bit, like a dog trying to find a place to bury his bone. I finally settle in my office. There was some homeschooling things that I had been putting off and so I decided that would be a quiet thing I could do. I quickly got bored with that and once again wondered around the house. I almost threatened to go wake the kids up early just so I could make some noise and not stare longingly at the computer. But I didn't as it was still only 6 am.
So there I was at 6 am., bored out of my mind! LOL. I'd already had my quiet time, homeschool planning that early was putting me back to sleep and running the vacuum just didn't seem like a good idea. What did I do? I did manage to find a few things that I have been putting off. Like this. Cleaning the top of my dresser, AGAIN! I was testing a theory that if I have the whole thing completely covered that I wouldn't have to dust it. Boy was that theory blown out of the water. How does the dust get UNDER everything? Well anyway here's the tidied top of my dresser. And yes it's still like that even 3 days later.
I also made these. I didn't actually sew them until the boys got up. But I got them cut out and pinned and stuff. I needed some pajama/ lounge shorts and I can't find them anywhere that actually cover your whole backside. They are very comfortable! Made from soft flannel. After the boys got up we went to work making some playdough and had more playdough fun. The hardest part is picking a color to color it.

I got some really interesting pictures of my kids playing with this stuff but it's probably only funny to me and you always think that people are going to think it's as funny as you but they really aren't, so I won't bore you with those! LOL. But I do have to say that my boys are very very unique!
Next, Chef Jauque and Chef Gustauv helped me make cookies. Don't they look sweet and innocent! Uh, Huh!
These were gone in 2 days and sadly, I ate most of them! *sigh* Thanks Kimba! LOL.
Remember the coloring incident not to long ago? My regulars, you know about my little problem right? LOL. Well let's just say that I shouldn't be allowed to play with blocks with my children. I got a little obsessive with my castle and found myself taking much needed pieces off of theirs so I could use them on mine! I know, I know, I need help. I even took about 6 pictures of MY castle at different angles and only 2 of theirs. Well only my 6 year olds because my 3 year old destroyed his before I got the camera out. Are you laughing at my expense? Well, that's what I'm here for! I'm only going to bore you with one picture of each though. So here's mine. See I even had to go first. Oy, Vey!
Here's my son's castle. I think he did a great job!
I admit that I didn't do a whole lot more than I would on an average day, I did spend more time with the boys and they were able to put up with me and my little quirks!
I really just wanted to prove to myself that I COULD do it and I did and I'm never doing it again because when I logged in on Saturday I had over 40 emails waiting for me and that took a bunch of time right there. LOL.
So God willing I'm plugged in for keeps!

Wanna see how productive others were? Go see Kimba!

Friday Funnies on Saturday!

Well hopefully by the time this posts I will have survived a whole day without the computer. I'll be telling all about my experience on Monday when I link up with Kimba. Everyone that participated in the Unplug thing is encouraged to link up and tell what they did that day. Anyway I hope that you all are still able to link up today. I need laughs! Bring on the laughs. You know what to do. Go post your funny, come back here and link up to that post.

I chose another video for today. This is too funny and makes you wonder how kids survive the younger years! LOL. Enjoy!!

Happy FRIDAY!!

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Oh Yum!

I feel it is my duty to my bloggy friends to share something when I find something that is worth sharing. Now this isn't going to appeal to everyone because I know not everyone drinks coffee but this being my last post before I UNPLUG on FRIDAY I thought I would go out with a caffeinated buzz!
I bought this coffee yesterday. It was on sale and I'm all about sales.
Here it is.
Now usually when you buy something that says Caramel Mocha or Vanilla Hazelnut, it smells really good when you open it but as soon as you grind and brew it it tastes nothing like that smell. It taste just like, well, plain ol' coffee. Who wants that? Ew! I stopped using the flavored creamers years ago as I became a label reader and well hydrogenated anything just isn't good for you, so with that said I have missed the yummy flavors that made coffee taste like anything but coffee. Hi, I'm Kim and I like foofy coffee. So I bought this coffee yesterday and just ground some and brewed it and guess what? It tastes just like coffee! No, I'm kidding. It actually tastes like caramel mocha! Yes you can actually taste it. All I add is a little half and half and very little sugar and the taste is still there. Go figure! Aren't you excited? Aren't you glad you stopped by?
I'm hoping this little caffeinated post keeps you going until Saturday.
Remember I'm unplugging tomorrow. *sigh* I'll miss you all! Don't forget about me! I'll be fine, REALLY!
Come back for Friday Funnies on Saturday. I'm going to need a laugh, I just know it! I'm going to pre-post today so it goes up at 12:01 am on Saturday so you will be able to link up early.
I feel like rambling on because as you might know by now I'm UNPLUGGING tomorrow. Did I mention that already? Wanna come over? I'm going to have some time on my hands! LOL. Okay I'm done.
SEE YOU SATURDAY!!
BIG GIANT UNPLUGGED HUGS TO YOU ALL!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Here's what I'm going to do! Now pay attention!

If you are just joining me today you may want to read the post below to catch up.
I am going to officially participate in the Unplug thing on Friday. Just to prove it to myself that I CAN do it. For those of you who don't know what that is, visit Kimba and check it out.
So with that said, I am going to have the Friday Funnies on Saturday and have no Show and Tell. Because if I had Friday Funnies on Thursday my email would be completely filled up by the time I got to look at it on Saturday. Is any of this making any sense? It's taking some brain power to write all this and you may need some to read it. Just go slow! LOL. So do we have it?
I'm Unplugging on Friday. Friday Funnies will be on Saturday for just this once.
Show and Tell Saturday is canceled just for this Saturday and I'll be all back to normal by Monday! Okay, maybe not normal but I'll be back! Well, I'm not actually leaving I just won't be posting Friday. Oh just go back and read it again and see if it makes sense this time!!
You are probably asking yourself why you come by in the first place by now aren't you? LOL.
Just know that I love you guys and appreciate your patience with me.
BIG HUGS!

I need a title that will make you want to read this!

Did that work? I had nothing! LOL. I have a few things to say and to ask. First off apparently someone had the great idea to UNPLUG this Friday. Doesn't she know that my Friday Funnies is on Friday? LOL. Anyway my question is, are any or a lot of you participating in that? If so I was going to move Friday Funnies to Saturday this week and not do Show and Tell. If you aren't then I'll keep Friday Funnies as it is. If you all are going to do it then I can prove that I can step away from my computer for one whole day too. GULP! It'll be easy. Yeah, uh, it'll be a piece of cake! PLEASE TELL ME YOU AREN'T DOING IT! But no pressure. I just wanted to make sure that we all get our laughs this week, whether it be Friday or Saturday.

On another note I need to confess that I am sadly behind on my award receiving and passing them on. Well the receiving isn't hard but the passing them on seems to take some time. I am always waiting for a day that I don't have anything to say but that doesn't seem to happen and I usually only have time for one post. Please don't think I don't appreciate them because I sincerely do! Phew! Confession is good for the soul.
This recent one is from Jensmere. It is so cute and I love it. I really kind of feel this way too! LOL. Think twice about unplugging! LOL. Shhh! Don't tell Kimba I'm routing against her! LOL.
This one is so sweet and I love it. I received this from Hon.

This award I received from my dear friend Christin and Omah. Makes me want to drink some lemon aid.
So thank you my friends for your wonderful awards. I do appreciate them. In fact I'm going to make a slide show like I've seen on other people's blogs and show them off. How's that for humble! No, I just want to make sure you know I appreciate each and every one of them.

Okay so don't forget to let me know about Friday!

Big Hugs!!

What I Learned this week!

Another week of lessons learned
to this I can't deny
You'd think by now I'd have it right
each day I truly try.
It seems to be I am in need
of counsel of some kind
So bare with me as I recall
the lessons in my mind.

Bet you didn't know I could actually rhyme something huh? LOL. Ah yes, A woman of many talents. Ha! Ha! That brings us to this weeks lessons that I've learned.
This week I've learned.....

1. that garlic doesn't smell as good on your fingers a day after you chopped it. *sigh*

2. that all you have to do is pressure wash your throw carpets outside and have them almost dry in order to get it to rain.

3. that replacing goat cheese for the cheddar cheese in my Encharrito Casserole was a really really good alternative.

4. that I have muscles in my upper back that I obviously don't use enough.

5. that I can color apples blue in a coloring book and still survive the day.

6. that watching my Mother do the Wii fit is highly entertaining. (I'm also sure she'd say the same about me!)

7. that our old worn out windows will always tell us when a rocket is going up by rattling unmercifully. Even in the middle of the night!

Well there we are. More and more lessons learned. Got something you've learned and want to share? Well go post about it and then link up to Musings of a Housewife. Got nothing but want to glean off others? Then just go to Musings of a Housewife and visit.

BIG HUGS TO YOU MY FRIENDS!

Okay, so maybe I do have a problem!

There are many days I ask the Lord why He blessed me with 3 beautiful children, because I really am a strange Mom. LOL. Most of you remember the OCD Christmas Decorating post right? And the Cookie Decorating? Well it just doesn't stop there for me. It just oozes into every day life. For example. My 3 year old asked me to color with him the other day. I thought, harmless enough. Right? Right? Wrong! First he wanted to "share" a coloring book. It doesn't matter that we have 100 coloring books, he wanted to share. Okay, I can do that. BUT you color on your page and I'll color on mine! We agreed. Now here's where it got ugly. He handed me 3 crayons. Yes 3! A blue one, a red one and a yellow one. "What? This is all I have to work with?" Again we probably have 1000 crayons somewhere in the house but he hands me 3 and not only that I have to SHARE those with him as well. Now I'm going to give you just a little background on my past coloring days. Back when I was a kid up to teenager I loved to color. BUT the pictures had to look just right. The sky had to be blue and the grass green. The characters had to be the same color as on the front cover of the coloring book. Pooh bear ALWAYS wore red. No exceptions! Do you see where this is going? I didn't let my little imagination run wild and color the sky pink or the grass purple. No! It was wrong and I wasn't going to do it. Let's come back to last Friday. So there I am with 3 crayons and to top it all off, I'd never seen the characters in this coloring book so I had no idea what they looked like and what colors they needed to be and I was a tiny bit bothered with that! LOL. Are you laughing at me yet? My son likes to color with one color per page. I can't watch him! He is pretty good about staying in the lines but the whole one color thing makes me want to take over. BUT I didn't and we managed to have a wonderful time despite myself. I colored an apple tree that had blue apples and I was FINE WITH IT! See I'm getting better. Soooo.....anyone want to come over and play with the crazy Mommy? LOL.
I need a hobby! LOL.
So there is my Monday Morning Musing! I'm sure I could link that up somewhere. That's gotta be a Meme!

LOVE YOU MY SWEET FRIENDS!!

The Internet Cafe is Serving Up a Spring Giveaway!

The Internet Cafe is serving up a Spring Giveaway.
In order to be eligible to win one of the FABULOUS prizes, they are looking for ways to REFRESH and RENEW our Spiritual lives this Spring! Write a post about how you are REJUVENATING your Spiritual life and share it with them! Leave a comment on their site letting them know you've shared and viola, you're entered! Click on the picture above to read all about it.

I love the words REFRESH and RENEW. It just means a new start. Lately I've been determined to spend that time with the Lord early in the morning. Reading the bible, doing my devotions and praying. I don't stress myself out over a certain time limit as I know I will be seeking Him during the day as well. I am also determined to bring the praise and worship music back into my home. I notice that when the kids are driving me crazy or I'm irritable, if I just put on some praise and worship music it just seems to take care of it all. The kids calm down and my spirit is renewed and refilled to keep me going.
These are some small goals that I am setting to renew and refresh this Spring and throughout the year.
What are you doing? Or What have you been doing? Blog about and let them know and you will be entered to win their wonderful giveaway.
Blessings my friends.

Show and Tell Saturdays- Handmade Goodies

Welcome to Show and Tell Saturdays. This weeks theme is something you made with your own two hands. It can be anything. Go do a little bragging on your blog then come back here and link up to your post with Mr. Linky down below.

Since I've already shown off my quilts, my drawings and my handbags, I was wondering what I was going to show today. Then I came across an old picture of a cake I made and I went hunting for more. I used to love decorating cakes back when I had more time on my hands. These are just a few and they are by no means great but they were loved by the people that got them. I hope you enjoy. If you ever need party theme ideas, I'm your gal!

This first one was a soccer cake I made for my daughter years ago when she played.
Bunny Cake (Very Easy)
Very simple cake for the match box car lover in your family!
I made this one for a little bridal shower. Fun Flower Pot Cake.

This one is probably one of my favorites. It was for a Luau Theme party. It's an island and the inhabitants are Teddy Grahams and I used Gummi Savers for the floats and chewing gum for beach blankets. It was so fun to make!!Well that's all I could scrounge up. Now a days all the kids ask for is my yummy peanut butter pie for their birthdays. I'm not complaining. LOL. My favorite cake is a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. OH IT'S THE BEST!

Have a great weekend my friends.

Friday Funnies

I look forward to Fridays! I'm usually in need of a good laugh by now and you all never disappoint! If you have a funny to share, whether it be a video, story, picture or joke, go blog about it and come back and link your post up to Mr. Linky down below! Let's spread some funny!!!

In honor of Mr. Hawkins coming to our town in May I thought I would post one of his hilarious videos.
This one is the scary bedtime prayer. I'm glad I was never taught this version of the prayer or I wouldn't have slept at night as a kid! LOL. Enjoy!!

Armed and not so dangerous!

I'm all about encouraging creativity in our kids.So when my 6 year old asked to use our camera I thought, "Sure, why not?" I am now going to share a few of his masterpiece pictures with you.
I admit, we could have played our own version of eye spy on some of these. How do you respond when he says,"Mom, look. Isn't it cool?" and I am not completely sure what he actually took a picture of. LOL.

Beware some of these pictures are graphic and a bit blurry! LOL.

Okay this one was obvious. Nice little squirrel sitting on the fence. Sweet.

This next one I'm thinking of blowing up and framing. I mean who doesn't want an 8 x 10 of a squirrel butt on their wall? Feel free to copy and paste this and use it for your own home decor. I won't mind! I think the rusty fence and the dead vines add just the right touch.

Oh I got this one. You see the rolly polly? Very important stuff here. Homeschooling at it's best no doubt. We do need to work on his focusing issues. Hee! Hee!
Okay you're on your own on this one. I don't think he was taking a picture of the pine tree. I'm thinking there must be something IN the pine tree.
A lovely shot of our neighbors back yard! LOL. I'm sure if you look WAYYYYYYYY over in the distance there is a small lizard that he was trying to capture! LOL. He is so cute.
You know you never get tired of a good ground shot. I'm thinking maybe he was seeing a mole hill?
Poor thing was trying to get a shot of himself holding his new bat but his little arms weren't long enough to get everything in! LOL. I love this boy!
This was just a small taste. If you'd like me to email you more there are plenty to share! LOL. I'm going to have to have him go over some of these and explain to me what he was taking a picture of.
What do your kids take pictures of? Hmmm maybe I'll let the 3 year old take pictures next and see what he comes up with. That would be interesting and a good excuse to buy a new camera! LOL.
Don't forget about Friday Funnies tomorrow and Show and Tell Saturday on well, Saturday. The theme is posted at the top of my blog.
HUGS!!

Works For Me Wednesday- As Seen on TV

We don't watch "tv". We have one but we don't watch shows or anything on it but when we used to years ago I always enjoyed watching the infomercials. I always wondered if they really worked as good as they did on TV. Well I bought this handy little gadget the other day and on the package was As Seen on Tv and at first I thought, "Oh here we go. Is it "really" going to work?" But I bought it anyway because it was replacing a big bulky electric one that was attached to under our counter. What is it you ask? Well it's this.
The One Touch Can Opener.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like this. Yes it does take 2 AA batteries but I've had it for over a month now and it's still running strong. What I like about this is that you just set it on the can, push the big black button and let it go. It cuts "around" the can, so no sharp edges. Also this would be great to take camping or if you live in Florida, for possible power outages due to hurricanes. But I like it for every day. It was $19.95 at Wal-Mart. So not a big investment.
Well that's what's working for me today. To see what's working for everyone else go check out We are That Family.
Big Gianormous Hugs to you all!

What I Learned this week!

Ah, it's that time again. A time to reflect on the week and see if we actually might have learned a valuable lesson.
This week I learned.....
1. that if an orange crayon makes it into the washing machine, that's okay. If it makes it's way into the dryer it will melt all over your clothes! Goo Gone anyone?

2. that if you have over 35 kids running in and out of your house, no matter that your house is 99% terrazzo floor or tile, they will find your 6 x 9 WHITE carpet!

3. that I love mixing a teaspoon of Ghirardelli hot cocoa in my coffee!

4. that we can have nothing going on for months but then have everything happen on the same weekend and have to choose what to do.

5. that Tim Hawkins is coming to our local Calvary Chapel in Melbourne on May 22nd and I'm so gonna have to be there. Wanna go?

6. that I am still VERY competitive even to this day. (Ask my 15 year old daughter whom I can still out run! LOL. Love you sweetie!)

7. that the Lord is the only person in the universe that will never disappoint you.

Well that's it for me this week. Have you learned anything this week? If so why don't you tell us so we can gleam off of your newly found wisdom. Go check out others who have done so at Musings of a Housewife.

BIG GIANT HUGS to you my friends.

My 3 1/2 Minutes of Fame!

Have any of you ever been on the radio for whatever reason or tv even?
I was just remembering this story and thought I would share it as it's a pretty good laugh. Well to me it was, you may not think so, but because I want to remember it forever and ever, I'm putting it into cyberspace for all to enjoy! Wow that was a really long run on sentence with commas placed just so, wasn't it?

Here's my story. Back in the day, my cheap, 20 year old clock radio would only get one station clearly, so I set my alarm on this particular station. I think it was Mix 105.1 for all you Floridians. Anyway, every morning about the time my alarm went off, this game called, "The Battle of the Sexes" would be fixing to start. They would ask for a girl caller and a guy caller. I had tried calling in before but had never gotten through. Well this particular morning things were going to change. I decided to try calling in again but this time I got through and I was told that I was the "girl" caller (I'm really glad they determined that early on). In this game they would ask a guy questions that most girls would know and the girl questions most guys would know and who ever gets the most right, won a prize. As I waited for the game to start my heart started pounding out of my chest! Talk about an instant waker upper! They cue me in on what is going to take place. I sit for about what seemed like a century but was actually only a minute or two. So with sweaty palms a racing heart and no idea what the questions were going to be, they come back on the phone and I am on the air with Scott and Erica. I meet my challenger and the questions began. We each got asked 3 questions. To make a short story shorter I got one right and he didn't get any, so I won! I was so excited and then they told me what I'd won. It was concert tickets to a group that I had never heard of in my life.( I really don't listen to a lot of secular radio) Here is where my theatrical training (or lack thereof) came into play, I Ooo'd and I Ahh'd and got so excited over a group that I had never heard of before in my life. The whole time I was cracking myself up. I got the tickets in the mail and we ended up selling them for $50.00. So it wasn't all bad!! Well there it is, my 3 1/2 minutes of fame story. I wish I would have had a cell phone handy to call people while I was waiting so someone could have heard me! Well, someone that I knew. Thousands of people heard me but they didn't know it was ME!! If you've ever been on the radio or tv I want to know why! Tell me your short 3 1/2 minutes of fame story.
Have a most excellent day my friends!!

Show and Tell Saturdays- Beloved Pet

This weeks topic was picked by JenT over at Many Blessings Equals Busy Life.
It's time to show and tell about your favorite pet or if you never had a pet one that you would have liked to have.

Okay it was a late night and I'm just getting started, which for those of you who know me know that this is really really late for me. I also don't have much time so this is going to be the shorter and sweet version. LOL.
Personally after having 2 dogs for over 10 years (We are now down to one. Long story.) my favorite pet has become anything that lives outside. The squirrels in our yard perform daily and I don't have to vacuum after them. The mourning doves sing a PLEASANT tune every morning right outside our window.(And it sounds nothing like the sound of a dog licking through our terrazzo floor!) The lizards don't eat much and are very quiet. The butterflies are pretty to look at and help pollinate my flowers. Yes these are my favorite pets. No shedding, feeding, picking up poopy, spending $300.00 you don't have to get a tooth pulled, being sad when they kick it! You know what I mean?
But for show and tell sake I'll show you a picture of my actual dog Murphy. She is a lab mix and has been a wonderful dog. I'm just tired of cleaning up after her. LOL. This is what she looked like this morning. Well this is what she looks like pretty much every morning. She's about 13 years old now and we will be sad when she goes but no we aren't going to get another one to replace her. I have kids, that's ALL I need! LOL.
Isn't she cute? We do love her and she's been great as far as dogs go!
If you have a beloved pet you'd like to brag about go blog about it and then come back and link up so we can all see!
Happy Saturday my friends!

Friday Funnies

This week went crazy fast. But lucky for us it's Friday and it's time to laugh! If you have a funny joke, picture, video or story to share blog about it and come back and link directly to the post using Mr. Linky down below.

Are you addicted to technology? Here's how to tell if you are!

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2.You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 5.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7 .If a commercial on TV has a website at the bottom (which most of them do) you run to the computer to check it out.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile.: )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to send this to.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list AND NOW YOU ARE LAUGHING at yourself.

Happy Friday my sweet sweet friends!!

Have I ever told you......

....that I love to draw? Yeah it's something about me that you probably never knew. The sad part is I haven't had an opportunity to do it in years. Because when I get the urge, I can sit for a couple hours working on something and being a Mom I'd love to know just where those 2 hours would come from! LOL. I can hear it now, "Uh, dinner's going to be a little late. Mommy's drawing!"
I did it a lot back before I had the boys and my daughter was still in public school. I drew a lot of Disney things for her wall and what ever I saw that I liked. I'm a visual drawer. I can look at just about anything and draw it. So if you'd like to take a glimpse of some of my past work, here it is. I was only armed with colored pencils at the time so my shading and blending was a bit limited.

This one is my daughters current favorite. I was inspired by a long narrow plaque on my Mom's wall at our house years ago and I just kind of created my own scene from it. This one is over 13 years old.

I drew a bouquet of flowers that my husband had bought me that was so perfect, I wanted to capture it. I'm now thinking a camera would have been a lot easier. LOL.

This one was from a David Miller painting that we actually still have hanging on our wall.
I probably drew 20 Disney related ones but here is just a couple.
I don't think I ever finished this one. It's been so long I'm not sure if I meant to leave it this way or not. But I still like it!
Well there you have it. You learned a little bit more about me today.
Don't forget to come back for Friday Funnies tomorrow. The Show and Tell Saturday's theme is at the top of my blog.
Big hugs to you my friends.
Oh and thank you so much for your kind comments yesterday. I truly do have the best blog friends ever!

Economic Encouragement!

Let's admit it. Times are shaky in our country. Layoffs and unemployment are at an all time high and it doesn't look like it's going to be getting any better in the near future. I don't even have that much comfort in our government and the decisions they are making to "help". (Hold on the encouragement is coming!) So what do you do?

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Is that hard for you? To let the Lord take control?
My husband works at Cape Canaveral. In the 13 years he's worked there for one company to the next, layoffs were always a threat. See at the Cape it's not your performance that keeps you there, it's the seniority. My hubby unfortunately has always been near the bottom of the totem pole and therefor when the word layoff is said, we again think, here we go again. Although, by the grace of God, 90% of the time he dodged them, but he did actually get laid off 2 years ago for a whole year. It was a time of pruning and growing and trusting in the Lord for all our provisions. Did we ever go without food? No. Electricity? No. We had everything we needed and the Lord provided it all. My husband got called back to the Cape and has been there for 2 years now. But once again layoffs are in the near future and he is at the very BOTTOM of the totem pole this time. But we know that the Lord is good and He will provide. Does it always come in the form that we expect? No. This is what has happened recently. A job opening came up within the same company that my husband currently works for. My husband wasn't sure about it at first because it's not a job in his trade. He's an electrician and this job would have nothing to do with being an electrician. But knowing that the job would be more secure he took the step to apply. See you can't sit around and think the Lord is going to drag you to your next destination, you need to take a step and with each step it becomes more clear to either advance or retreat. As it did with this job. With each step we both felt better and better about it. When they actually offered it to him we both felt it was the Lord's way of keeping hubby out there in a more "secure" position. The miraculous part? My husband doesn't have a bachelors degree or anything. He went to trade school for 2 years to become an electrician. But this lowly ol' country boy will be in what they call the Pentagon of the Cape. In fact he walked right past the General on his way in.
Proverbs 22:29
Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
We serve a BIG God! See layoffs probably won't touch him now for the rest of the contract which is another 6 years. Is this something my husband would have sought out on his own? No. My husband starts the day out on his knees and asks the Lord for wisdom and guidance. He is good about giving it to those who ask. So my point today is.Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Many of you have husbands that have been laid off or are in the process. Don't be afraid to take steps in new directions as the Lord guides you. Ask Him for wisdom and discernment. In these shaky times you just might find yourself doing something you never thought you would. Don't be afraid to take chances when the Lord is prompting you. Where the Lord guides He provides. Most of all ladies, support and build up our husbands. Let them know we have their back and are there for them. So much responsibility rests on the shoulders of our men. They don't need nagging wives to deal with either. Let's do our part and love and support them unconditionally!
I hope this was able to encourage you. It's been on my heart and I know that sometimes we go through things to be an encouragement to others, so I hope you were able to walk away with something.
Have a most excellent day and thanks for sticking it out with me on this longer than usual post!
BIG Hugs!

What I Learned this week!

I don't think we ever stop learning do we? Each and every week there seems to be something new on the horizon. For my regular readers I hope this doesn't get to deep as I know you aren't used to getting that here. But here is goes.
This week I've learned.......
1. that no matter how hard you try there will be some part of your body that you miss with sunscreen.
2. that you can meet some incredible people and some complete loons over the internet.
3. that a 3 year old knows when you are distracted and uses that to ask you if he can have a snack, because 80% of the time an Uh, Huh comes out without thinking about what was said. And then you wonder why he doesn't want his supper!

4. that a 6 year old knows how to use a 3 year old as a distraction.

5. that I REALLY don't like time changes!

6. that my 3 year old knows how to say Mom and it sound a lot like Dad to me in the middle of the night. (At least that's what I tell my husband).

7. that I am really not much of a night owl. I'm more of a mourning dove!

8. that I don't like other kids hurting mine!

9. that a best friend can break your heart.

10. that I'm on the lookout for a new best friend~ LOL~ Just send your applications to my email for review! LOL. I'm a bit more cautious these days.

To see the wisdom of others and what they have learned this week, head on over to Musings of a Housewife!
Have a most excellent day my friends!! Come back tomorrow as I am going to spread some economic encouragement!

What a weekend!

Warning: If you are waist deep in snow you may want to click out of this right now as it may depress you beyond help! Read at own risk.

Okay now that that's out of the way, here's my post!
This weekend was a blurr. We had a most excellent time on Saturday. We made the 2 hour trek over to Clermont to see my sweet friend Debra and her family. Most of you know Debra from Clothed with Scarlet. If you don't then you should go meet her because she is a very sweet lady. We met somewhere in blogland. They came to our Christmas party and we all just really hit it off. This was our first time over there and we all had a blast together. They live right near a beautiful yet very cold lake. We guessed the temperature at around 68 degrees. So needless to say it was just going to be the brave men that do anything involving actually getting or falling into the water! Though Deb did get a little backspray that was a bit cold, huh Deb? Now on to some pictures. We have a lot of the same pictures so for times sake I'm not going to post a lot of the pictures because I know you people are super busy and I don't want to bore you first thing in the morning with our daily activities! LOL. With that said.....
.......here's the lake that we played on. It's it beautiful. Look at those blue skies. A perfect 79 degrees and sunny!

Here my son got a bit excited and decided to wear his life jacket on the way to the boat ramp. I thought he looked so cute!
Here's my most excellent family!
Here is my beautiful friend Deb and my son doing his impression of Popeye the Sailor Man!
Two handsome dudes! My handsome dude is on the right and Deb's is on the left. I'm so glad they liked each other it makes for a funner time! LOL. Is funner a word? I should have said more fun, Huh? Are you writers cringing yet? Oh it gets better. Read on! Hee! Hee!
I just liked this picture!
Here is my man skurfin' or what some people call wake boarding. We call it skurfin'. I guess that's East Coast talk. LOL. I kept telling him he looked hot. I also kept telling him that he's going to be REALLY sore in the morning. Guess what? I was right! Ha! Ha! He hadn't skurfed in about 5 or so years. But he got right up on his first try. YOU GO BABY!
Here is my daughter and our future son in law Josh. I'm kidding. Well sort of! LOL. She so didn't want to fall into that cold cold cold water and Jay was really good about keeping them from tipping over. They had fun!
Josh was so sweet to take our son on a ride. He (my son) thought that was so much fun. He looked like he wasn't sure at first but once they hit some wake and bounced around, the smiles started showing!Check Spelling
After a full day on the lake we got to go back and relax as Jason and Deb's house. They made a delicious dinner and we just got to hang out and fellowship with some really great people. I admit after being on a boat all day , that 2 hour drive home was hard! LOL. But well worth it.
Losing that hour wasn't very helpful either!

Come back tomorrow when you'll find out what I learned this week! Oh the wisdom I'm going to share!! You won't want to miss it! Hee! Hee!
