It's Tea Time! My newest addition!

It's tea time gals. So grab your tea and sit a spell.
I've got my latest tea cup to share with you.

I got this tea cup a few weeks ago. All I can tell you about it is that it comes from a wonderful southern lady that I just know had to have had many a friends over for tea. She had very good taste in tea cups as you can see with this one that I received.
I love the beautiful gold on the delicate light pink. The handle is just so dainty and elegant.

I know you avid tea cup collectors like to see the bottom of the cup so here you go. I'm not very tea cup savvy, I just know what I like.

Have you ever wanted to throw a tea party but were a little intimidated by the in's and out's of everything?
Well worry no longer. I'm going to introduce to you, one of my favorite tea books.

The Twelve Teas of Friendship
I love everything about this book. The recipes, the information, the BEAUTIFUL pictures. It's one that you'll simply want to curl up with your own cup of tea and read from cover to cover.

Want to see for yourself? Take a look inside!
If you've never purchased a tea book before I highly recommend this one.

I'm actually thinking about having a tea this fall and have been looking through it for recipes and ideas.

I have other tea books that I'll introduce you to another time.

Tell me, if you drink tea, what's your favorite?

BLESSINGS!

I'm Gonna Need Your Help On This One!

My MIL gave this to my husband the other day when he was over there and said that she had no use for it and that a friend of hers had brought it over from Europe. She figured I'd know what to do with it.
I'm glad she gave me such credit but I have to tell you that I have NO idea how to use this stuff. LOL!

I kind of figured that one of you really smart and knowledgeable people out there would tell me how I am supposed to use this with my cooking.
Does it go on toast?
Do you eat it with chicken?
Do you dip chips in it? LOL!

I really have no idea. I don't want to throw it away if it's good stuff but I don't have a clue what to do!
Here's a picture of the front!

And the back with the ingredients.
Click the picture to make it bigger so you can read them.

HELP!

So upon further investigation, I realized that it looks like it's out of date. Which means one of two things.

1. My MIL's friend forgot to pick something up for her in Europe and felt bad so she grabbed this out of her pantry, which had been sitting there behind the dried beans for years because someone had given it to her and SHE didn't know what to do with it.You know, the fruitcake effect!
or
2.  BB END JUL 2010 means something else.

Should I just chuck it or what?

Friday Funnies!

Happy Friday my fellow funny people!
Are we needing a good laugh today?
I know I am.
So let's get to it.
If you have a family friendly funny to share then by all means link it up.
If you're just here for the giggles then by all means giggle your little heart out!

My son the 8 year old. He is a constant source of entertainment in our home and I know I've used him a few times for my Friday Funnies but I had to share this.
I love my son. I really really do. He just brings joy to my heart.
And I'm going to tell you why.
On 3 separate nights recently, this is what he was doing an hour after I tucked him in to bed.

Night #1 - 10:15 at night
Him: "I'm growing a mustache."
Me:"Oh really?"
Him: "Yes, and it should be full grown by the time I'm 13."(completely serious)
Me: "That's great honey. Go back to bed because you need sleep in order for it to grow in thick."
Him: "Yeah, you're probably right. Night."

Night #2- 10 o'clock at night he comes out.
Him: "Hi, Mom."
Me: "Hi honey, whatcha been doing in your room? I heard you talking."
Him: "I've been trying to come up with names for all the kids I'm going to have, but I haven't really come up with any I like."
Me: "Okay, well you have a "few" years to figure that how and you might want to concentrate on growing that mustache first."
Him: "Good idea." "Love you Mom."
Me: "Love you too honey."

Night #3- 9:30 at night.
Him: "Hey, Mom."
Me: "Hi sweetheart." What are you doing up?"
Him: "Guess what I can do?"
Me:"What?"
Him:"I can put this leg behind my head." "I've been practicing."
Me: *shakes head* "That's great. So uh, I'll see you in morning. Love you!"
Him: "Love you too."

Anybody else have an ambitious child like mine? LOL!
Happy Friday my friends!!

Lisa's making me do a blog post!

So I was just taking a few days to reevaluate some things and my dear friend Lisa caught me on FB and told me that I must post. "Post, post, post." she said. "People are going to worry about you." she said.
So here's my post full of white noise, just for Lisa!
Does any one want me to use bullets? Cause I will. Because  you know I love them and they make me look smart and like I have it all together.
Here are some thoughts that have been going through my noggin'.
  • Does my blog contribute to the blogging community?
  • Is it worth the time and effort?
  • Do people get anything from it?
  • Would it be missed if it just disappeared? Really? Honestly?
  • What is that stuff on the tile and why won't it come off?
  • Did you really "need" to know about my washer and dryer ?
  • What really keeps you coming back to read? Really?
  • Why does chocolate have to taste so good?
  • Can I honestly put myself on a schedule and stick to it?
  • Is it possible to do everything well?
Well there you have it Lisa. A post just to make you happy. And no one else needs to answer those questions but Lisa. LOL!

HUGS!

Brain Dump!

Have you ever had so much going on in your brain that not even you can figure it out enough to write it down and sort it all out to make sense of it? Have you ever written a sentence that not even you could read it right the first time, yet didn't change it to make it any better? Do you throw commas in the middle of a long sentence just to give people a breather before they go on?
Yeah, me either.

I have so much going on in my noggin' right now that I can't make sense of any of it. There are so many ideas for my cooking blog, for homeschooling, there are appointments I need to make, chores to do, meals to prepare..etc. It all just gets scrambled in there. I need someone to pull all that information out, put it in a .pdf format so I can save it and print it off for later use. But what will happen is, I'll save it, forget about it, and then a year later find it in a dusty computer file labeled "DuH" and pretty much everything in it will be obsolete. I do this ALL the time with e-books that I buy. I recently started going through them and you want to know what my "real" problem is? I'm cheap! Yup! Tighter than two coats of paint when it comes to money. I don't want to print them out because ink is so expensive. So they just sit there in a folder. I might glance at them every once in awhile, but I hate sitting at the computer to read a book so I don't glance long. OY! Someone help me. Or just send me some ink. LOL!

Anyone else have issues today?
Go ahead and dump away! LOL! Dr. Kim is in the house!!!!

HUGS!

It's Rednesday! Free is Good! Free is REAL good!

It's so nice to find someone else with the passion for the color red. This week I have some "Estate Sale" finds that ended up being free! (No I didn't steal them! LOL)
Let's just say that it was a total blessing to me!

First is this gorgeous oil lamp.
And to top it off it has red scented oil to go in it! NICE!

The second red item I received is this beautiful pair of red gloves.
And they fit me like a glove too. I'll definitely be prepared for the cold this winter!

Oh, I love this next thing! They have become my official Christmas PJ's.
They are perfect! I can't wait to wear them.
Don't they look comfy?

And last but not least, I am never one to pass up a good red shirt. And believe it or not, I don't have a lot of red shirts for winter so this was perfect.

Red makes me happy and I'm pretty sure it makes the world go round!
If you love red and want to link up some of your old or some of your new red things, head on over to It's a Very Cherry World and link up!

SUPER DUPER HUGS TO YOU ALL!

Random question: If you bring a Peanut Butter Pie to the gym and eat it AFTER a Step Class, do the calories still count? I'm just wondering!

Hurricane Brad Hits Indialantic!

"Honey I need a new chain saw."
"Okay." I said. "Go buy one if you need one."

The rest is history!

Before

(Make note of the ladder perched against the tree. My husband was up there with a chain saw and I was inside on my knees! LOL!)

After
Do you see a difference?

How about now?

This was a ficus tree.
If you've ever had a ficus tree growing in your yard you know that their roots are VERY intrusive. Like, don't plant them by a pool intrusive or a septic tank intrusive or really by anything that involves cement intrusive.

This little cut back was about 10-12.5 years to late.
Because had we (and we I mean him and him alone) had done it earlier, this may not have happened to my pretty little arbor.

I'm pretty sure he'll build me another one. He's good like that!
So what has your hubby been doing lately? LOL!

HUGS!

Friday Funnies! Back to School Edition!

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
How was your week?
Are you needing a giggle?
Do you have one to share?
Either way you're in the right place!
Feel free to link up your family friendly funny below and don't forget to check out the other funnies for a day full of laughs!

I thought that it would be good to do a Back To School funny today since most everyone, homeschoolers and public schoolers alike are starting or have already started back to school.
ENJOY!

Back to School

Summer vacation was over and Little Johnny returned back to school.
Only two days later his teacher phoned his mother to tell her that he was misbehaving.
"Wait a minute," she said. "I had Johnny with me for three months and I never called you once when he misbehaved!"

Physics Teacher: "Isaac Newton was sitting under a tree when an apple fell on his head and he discovered gravity. Isn't that wonderful?"
Student: "Yes sir, if he had been sitting in class looking at books like us, he wouldn't have discovered anything."

"If there are any idiots in the room, will they please stand up" said the sarcastic teacher.
After a long silence, one freshman rose to his feet.
"Now then mister, why do you consider yourself an idiot?" enquired the teacher with a sneer.
"Well, actually I don't," said the student, "but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself."

A little girl came home from school and said to her mother, "Mommy, today in school I was punished for something that I didn't do."
The mother exclaimed, "But that's terrible! I'm going to have a talk with your teacher about this ... by the way, what was it that you didn't do?"
The little girl replied, "My homework."

_____________________________
The child comes home from his first day at school. Mother asks, "What did you learn today?"
The kid replies, "Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow."

Thank You Very Much!

Welcome to another edition of Thank You Very Much.
This is where you get to be a little sarcastic and thank those things or people around you that may have irritated you "slightly" during the week!

After going to the Orlando Science Center, I want to give a big Thank You Very Much to this guy (below) for not making it to my century. Cause I seriously wouldn't want to have to deal with you during rush hour!

A Thank You Very Much to my youngest for hogging our Redneck Pool!
Move over honey, Mama's hot!

To my 8 year old genius. Thank you very much for feeling the need to have about 1000 of these self portraits on the computer!
Some IN focus....

.....and SOME (most) that are not!

And last but not least, I want to Thank this guy, VERY much for knowing where he belongs.
OUTSIDE and not in my house!

Feel the need to "vent" just a little? Then head on over to Kmama's to link up your post!

Have a fabulous day my friends!

Because it wouldn't be fair for you to wonder!

Here's what's been going on the last few days.
I'm going to use bullets because bullets make the world go round.
Here they are in no particular order.
  • We were supposed to start homeschooling this week.
  • Both boys got colds.
  • We didn't start homeschooling this week.
  • I went to the dermatologist for my first routine visit ever and had two things scraped off my face and they are being sent to be looked at for cancer. Wasn't really expecting that. I don't like needles, especially when they are aimed at my face!
  • Mom's surgery went great and she's recovery. Thank you FB friends for your prayers.
  • I had a pretty embarrassing moment today but only me and my BFF know about it. It wasn't pretty. And no, I won't tell!
  • I need to make an eye appointment, hair appointment and a GYN appointment. *sigh*
  • I love going to a church that when you aren't there they actually miss you!
  • I feel fat. Going to Step Class tomorrow.
  • I can't wait to drink coffee in the morning.
I think that's enough useless information for you. I mean you did want to know right? Cause you care, right?
BIG GIANORMOUS HUGS TO YOU!

What Does One Do When The Temperature is 98.6 Degrees Outside?

Well she goes to Sam's Club and buys the warmest, fuzziest, softest blanket she EVER felt in her life.
(This is where the camera pans off into a cloud bubble.)
Instantly thoughts of Winter and chilly evenings fill her mind...... hot cocoa, snuggling with her sweetums. Brrrrr!!!
(Good feeling gone as she walks outside....with her BLANKET!)
She then gets home and tries to convince her husband that she hasn't lost her mind (harder than you think) and MAKES him feel it (more than he probably wanted to) and convinces him that she really needed to buy it now, in the Summer, when it's HOT.  Seriously though, the risk of it being gone by Winter was much to great, because living in Florida we don't have but 8, 9 or maybe 10 blankets already! Oy!

So what did YOU do this weekend to beat the heat? Unless you're my Australian friends then this doesn't apply, but you might be eyeballing my blanket! LOL!

Have a fabulous day!

Thank You Very Much! The Inanimate Object Edition!

Welcome to another edition of Thank You Very Much.
This is where you get to be a little sarcastic and thank those things or people around you that may have irritated you "slightly" during the week!

It's been awhile since I've done one, so I'm pretty sure I'm due!
AND I'm sure some of you saw this one coming. I'm just sayin'!

  • To my leather couch, Thank You Very Much for making it miserable to sit on when it's hot. Can you say sticky? Ugh!
  • To my dryer that's right outside my kitchen, Thank You Very Much for raising the temperature at LEAST 6.3 degrees when you are running and making it even more miserable hot inside the house.
  • To our dining room chairs that meet my bare legs during dinner and then refuse to let me up due to the fact that my legs are sweating, give me a break will you, Thank You Very Much.
  •  To my morning coffee, why must you taste so good? I'm sitting here with sweat glistening drips of perspiration making their way down my back while I drink you, Thank You Very Much!
  • To the "cold" water that comes out of the pipes, I can't even get relief with a cold shower because you are still at least 84 degrees, Thank You Very Much!

Well there you have it. You saw that coming didn't you? LOL!
It had to be done. AND I feel a little bit better.
If you'd like to do a little venting of your own, head on over to Kmama's and link up!

Have a FABULOUS day my friends!
HUGS!

I said I wouldn't complain!

So I'm going to call it venting!
It's hot! It's REAL hot. And I know I'm not the only person who thinks so.  And I know it's not limited to just Florida.
I remember waking up to this this past winter.

When your birdbath freezes in Florida it's cold! And I complained about it. I'm sure I did.

But now that Summer is in full swing and the heat is relentless, I have to vent a little. So here it goes.
1. It's hot!
2. I don't go out between the hours of 10 am - 5 pm. It's just too hot!
3. My flowers are dying, cause it's hot!
4. We are on a watering restriction because of lack of rain. And it's hot!
5. I'm going to have to open our electric bill with my eyes closed cause I'm afraid of it this month because our a/c doesn't ever seem to shut off, because...it's HOT!
6. I get grouchy when it's hot! *wink*
7. Getting in my vehicle after it's been parked in a parking lot while I'm in getting groceries, is torturous, because it's REALLY hot in my vehicle after it's been sitting in 97 degree heat for an hour!
8. We don't have "dry" heat. We have humid heat, which is WAY worse than "dry" heat.

Okay I think I'm done. Thank you for putting up with me!
Now will someone PLEASE dig me a pool! LOL!
What are you doing to keep cool?
HUGS!

Thrifty, Nifty and Fun!

This past Saturday, I actually got to do a little shopping.
Saturday morning, with water bottle in hand and a heat index of 107 my daughter and I headed out to find the garage sales.
2 hours and 1 really sweaty shirt later this is what I bought!

As most of you know I've been doing Christmas crafts lately. If you didn't know that means it's been at least a week since you stopped by so shame on you! LOL!

I so SCORED at a garage sale that was selling craft items AND Christmas items.
I got a whole box full of stuff for only 5 bucks.
Here are my thrifty finds!
This little treasure was $3.00. I'm going to sand it an paint it. Probably white! LOL! I'm on a white kick right now! We'll see.

And then I had the pleasure of going to the Brand New Hobby Lobby out in Viera. It's a little further of a drive than Jo-Ann Fabrics but apparently it's owned by a Christian and I'm all about supporting that. They had some great deals and I walked away with these items for less then $25.00.
This lamp I bought my daughter was half of that total but we are redoing her room and this lamp was perfect for it, so I went ahead and got it. Plus it was 50% off.
We are going to add a nice trim on the bottom of the shade to match her decor!

And now for the fun part.
I was perusing Ross' this past week and I heard it calling to me. "Psst!" "Hey, you!" it said. "Over here." "No, over here." "Down, down, yup there you go!"
Seriously, I really think it called to me because there it was, on the bottom shelf, all by itself and not another  one like it anywhere.
What kind of person would I be if I just left it there! Especially when I'm CRAZY about smiley faces. I mean HELLO, it pretty much had my name written all over it!
So now it makes a happy little display on my hutch.
You can't walk by it and not smile. You're smiling aren't you? Hee! Hee!

So for right around $35.00, I got all that I told you about here!
Not to shabby.
Did you get to go thrifting this weekend? What did you find?

Have a FABULOUS day!
